Should an electrician resume list a contract role that ended?

An electrician lists the contract role the client cancelled mid-engagement; contract work is normal in the electrical trade, and a bare gap reads worse than a dead project. The résumé line stands as completed work, anchored to the systems you pulled and terminated. Leave it off only if the job ended before you'd finished anything you can name. Omit a real one and you hand back logged hours along with the months.
The cancelled project still ends in installed work
A client cancelling mid-engagement usually says more about budgets and permits than about your work as an electrician. The conduit you ran and the panels you terminated don't vanish because the project stopped. The sheet gets judged on licence class, documented apprenticeship hours, and the systems you've pulled and terminated, and the cancelled role carries each.
In the electrical trade, the months on a cancelled project are still logged hours, so cutting the role thins your apprenticeship record along with your work history.
A contract role that died in mobilization, before you'd pulled wire or terminated a circuit, gives a foreman nothing to weigh. Leave that one off and let your licence carry the sheet. Everything past that bar belongs on the résumé as completed work.
Write the contract line around systems, not the story
The line names the contractor you worked under, the dates you held, the job's scope, and the systems you pulled and terminated while the engagement ran. A foreman sorts electricians by that scope, residential, commercial or industrial, before anything else on the sheet, because the pools don't mix. The cancellation itself gets no ink. It's an interview answer, and a short one.
When the foreman asks why the job ended, say the client shut the project down and name what you'd energized by then. Keep the dates on the line matched to your LinkedIn profile so the record doesn't shift when a contractor's office checks it.
