The plain version

How Olive Jobs Works

Olive Jobs is an AI job search for real career jobs in the United States, whether you are starting out or already in your career. You tell Olive the job you want, typed or spoken, and it searches open postings, evaluates how your history fits one, tailors your résumé to it and runs a practice interview built from it. You then apply on the employer's own site.

Where listings come from

Listings are openings employers publish themselves: most arrive through a licensed feed of employer-published openings, the rest directly from employers' career sites.

Olive lists jobs in the United States and remote jobs you can do from the United States. Right now that is 1,535,800+ open roles. Ask for a place outside the US and Olive says it doesn't cover that place, then searches US and remote roles instead.

Olive's ingestion runs twice a day. A posting that stops appearing in its source is closed, usually after one or two missed checks, and usually leaves search at the first miss. A posting also closes two days after its stated application deadline, or when its source marks it closed. One that disappeared and comes back reopens.

A closed posting leaves search. Its page stays up for 7 days, marked closed, with open roles like it, for people following a saved link or a notification, and it tells search engines not to index it. After that the page answers 404.

You describe the job the way you'd tell a person, typed or spoken. You don't need an account to search.

Olive reads the role, the place and your other limits out of what you said and turns them into filters. "Part time nurse in Boston over 100k" becomes a search for nurse roles that are part-time, in Boston and pay at least $100,000.

It searches only open postings. With a résumé or profile on file, search can order results by how well they match it.

What a fit evaluation looks at, and what it doesn't

A fit evaluation reads your profile against one posting: its description, its skills and the requirements it states. Olive needs a résumé or profile to read, and asks for one first if you have none.

It rates four things for that job: your skills, how relevant your experience is, your achievements and their impact, and your education and credentials. It also checks each credential the posting names, such as a license, certification, degree, security clearance or minimum years of experience, against your profile.

You get an overall tier (Strong Match, Almost There, Developing Fit or Getting Started), your strengths and gaps, and specific steps to close the gaps. If the posting states a requirement as mandatory and your profile clearly lacks it, you see that first.

It gives no numeric score or percentage. It doesn't predict whether you'll get an interview or the job, and it knows nothing about other applicants. A requirement the posting lists as preferred or only implies is never treated as a must-have. Things a profile can't show in advance, such as a minimum age, background checks, drug screens and physical requirements, aren't counted against you.

How résumé tailoring works

Point Olive at a posting and it rewrites your résumé for that job from your own profile. It chooses what to lead with and what to leave out, and uses the posting's terms where your history supports them. It doesn't add a skill, tool, duty or credential your profile doesn't state or plainly imply, and a requirement you don't show stays off the résumé.

Olive's code then checks the draft. A role, degree, certification or publication that can't be tied to your profile is dropped, job titles go back to your profile's wording, and a number you never wrote doesn't print.

Then you review it: each rewritten bullet and the summary with the original beside it, and what was added or removed. You keep, edit or revert each one, so you decide what goes out. Export as DOCX or PDF. Tailoring needs a free account.

How interview practice works

Pick a real posting and the interview is built from it: Olive reads the job description, researches the company, and writes the questions and the scoring rubric before you start. No posting in mind? Name a role and practice for that.

The interviewer speaks and listens, and you answer out loud or type. Each answer gets its own feedback as you go: a score out of 100 and what to add.

When you finish you get a scored debrief: an overall score out of 100, a score and the reasoning for each thing the rubric measures, your strengths and what to improve, and coaching. Practice interviews need a free account.

What Olive doesn't do

Olive never applies to a job in your name. It links you to the employer's application and you apply there. The Chrome extension can fill in an application form, but it doesn't accept consent boxes or submit anything: you review every field and submit it yourself.

Résumés are never sold to recruiters. What Olive collects and who it shares it with is in the privacy policy.
