Brief Description of Duties:

The Syracuse Educational Opportunity Center (SEOC) is seeking Adjunct Manufacturing Instructor to provide hands-on and classroom instruction to diverse set of adult learners preparing for careers in the manufacturing industry. The instructor will deliver practical, project-based training that develops foundational manufacturing skills, technical competencies, safety practices, and workplace readiness.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction in fundamental manufacturing topics based on program curriculum, including:

  • Manufacturing processes and production fundamentals

  • Workplace and industrial safety

  • Precision measurement and basic manufacturing math

  • Hand and power tools, equipment, and proper tool usage

  • Blueprint and technical drawing interpretation

  • Quality control and inspection fundamentals

  • Basic mechanical and industrial systems

  • Lean manufacturing, productivity, and continuous improvement concepts

  • Workplace professionalism, teamwork, and communication

  • Provide hands-on demonstrations and supervise students during manufacturing lab activities.

  • Prepare lesson plans, demonstrations, and instructional activities aligned with the Manufacturing program curriculum and established course objectives.

  • Reinforce proper safety procedures and ensure students follow established safety requirements when using tools, machinery, and equipment.

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and productive classroom and lab environment.

  • Track attendance, student progress, assessments, and grades.

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student learning, skill development, program completion, and workforce readiness.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in manufacturing, production, industrial technology, machining, or a related field.

  • Ability to provide and supervise hands-on manufacturing instruction in classroom and lab settings.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, industrial safety, measurement, basic manufacturing math, tools and equipment, quality practices, and blueprint/technical drawing interpretation.

  • Ability to safely demonstrate the operation and use of applicable manufacturing tools and equipment.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
