Description
A highly respected international law firm is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Docketing Operations Lead to oversee daily IP docketing operations and support a sophisticated patent, trademark, copyright, and domain name practice. This leadership role offers the opportunity to mentor a team of docketing professionals, drive process improvements, maintain critical intellectual property databases, and help ensure compliance with domestic and international IP deadlines and regulations.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented docketing professional with strong technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and a passion for improving operational efficiency within a complex IP environment.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day operations of the intellectual property docketing function.

Serve as a primary resource for docket-related questions from attorneys, paralegals, and docketing staff.

Monitor critical deadlines and ensure timely completion of all docketing-related activities.

Coordinate workflow distribution and assist with staffing and resource planning.

Train and mentor docketing professionals, including developing and delivering training programs.

Maintain data integrity through audits, quality control processes, and database reviews.

Troubleshoot docketing issues and implement solutions to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Partner with management and technology teams to enhance and optimize the firm's IP docketing platform.

Work with internal stakeholders to support client onboarding, matter transfers, and reporting requests.

Stay current on changes in U.S. and international intellectual property laws, regulations, and filing requirements.

Support firmwide compliance, risk management, and operational best practices.
Requirements
-
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
-
5+ years of intellectual property docketing experience in a law firm or comparable professional services environment.

Strong knowledge of patent, trademark, copyright, and maintenance deadline management.

Experience using IP docketing software, with FoundationIP experience strongly preferred.
-
Working knowledge of USPTO systems and resources, including Patent Center, TSDR, TESS, and related databases.

Understanding of domestic and international intellectual property procedures and docketing requirements.

Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and support team members.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
-
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
