Full job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION: To perform maintenance duties as assigned by maintenance supervisor.

PAY GRADE: 246 Day- Grade 7 - Salary Range: $35,242.00 to $56,807.00. Salary placement will be based on Douglas County Board of Education approved salary schedules and years of verified experience.

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 246 Days (12 Months)

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor/General Maintenance Foreman

EDUCATION LEVEL: High School Graduate or GED preferred.

EXPERIENCE: None

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: None. Prefer certification in one of the construction trades.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lift 70 pounds individually and move objects up to 140 pounds with assistance. Be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, feel, talk, hear, crawl, and have depth perception. Be able to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to weather including cold, hot, wet and high humidity. Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

PROFICIENT SKILLS:

  • Follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and make minor repairs in electrical problems.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and make minor repairs in plumbing problems.
  • Ability to do framing work and hang sheetrock.
  • Ability to make minor repairs in floor covering, suspended ceilings, gutters, concrete, door hardware, and/or masonry.
  • Read electrical drawings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Maintain valid Georgia driver's license.
  • Maintain clean and organized work vehicle.
  • Maintain all equipment and tools.
  • Responsible for ensuring vehicle is serviced and all safety features are properly working.
  • Safely load, unload and secure all equipment, tools and other items to be transported, either by vehicle or trailer.
  • Schedule required work.
  • Responsible for procuring and returning material from/to stock.
  • Requisition needed materials not stocked.
  • Report immediately safety hazards which affect the welfare of students and system employees.
  • Maintain records of all work requests.
  • Maintain safe work site.
  • Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
