Description

Summary:

CIVCO offers opportunities for Engineering students to gain experience in 2027 in Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Design. Our Engineering Co-ops are responsible for assisting with the engineering work of their assigned department and coordinating with all departments to ensure smooth production startup.

  • Design Co-op assists in designing and managing projects in the area of product development with a focus on line extensions with design engineer supervision.

  • Quality Co-op assists in supporting sustainment activities and provides support by investigating production or process issues.

  • Manufacturing Co-op assists in manufacturing with new product development projects and process improvement initiatives.

These positions will be located onsite at our facility in Coralville, Iowa.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

Design Engineering Co-op:

  • Product Design: Design/development of needle-guidance accessories, end product components/assemblies, packaging configurations, labeling & instructions. Utilizes 3D CAD (PTC Creo)

  • Project Management: Scheduling, tracking, and communicating to mentor and design team. Coordinating deliverables and design control (DHF) documentation. Implementing entire design cycle requirements

  • Product Support: Investigate production or process issues and complete drawing or process changes. Support Product Line Management, Marketing and Production staff

  • Continuous Process Improvement: Evaluate internal process and give process improvement ideas & implementation strategies

Quality Engineering Co-op:

  • Product Development & Design Control: Complete assigned quality and manufacturing verification and validation for new and existing products. Complete changes to associated standard operating procedures, drawings, and or change orders.

  • Manufacturing Support: Document and perform manufacturing project qualification or verification activities to increase productivity and efficiency in the manufacturing areas.

  • Continuing Process Improvement: Evaluate internal process and give process improvement ideas & implementation strategies. Support internal and external audits.

  • Production Support: Investigate production or process issues and help drive associated process or drawing changes.

Manufacturing Engineering Co-op:

  • New Product Development: supports through identification and creation of packaging specifications, creation of infection control product drawings (cover) utilizing 3D CAD (Creo), supporting Design for Manufacturability evaluation, and creation and testing of fixture development

  • Manufacturing Process Improvement initiatives: support includes creation and documentation of processes and developing Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Product Support and Sustainment: includes investigation and testing to support CAPA, support non-PDP project by managing Juarez Single Work Order process, 3D printing activities

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED and actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline such as manufacturing or industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or other related discipline. Two to three semesters of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates good communication skills.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

  • Experience with manufacturing processes (injection molding, machining, and assembly) and/or related products is preferred.

  • Knowledge of design, documentation, materials management, and design for manufacturing is preferred.

  • Regular, predictable attendance is required for the ability complete all work.

  • Requires face-to-face interaction with team members, peers, and management to complete work and provide support.

  • Ability to demonstrate and promote CIVCO Values.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
