Maximus is currently seeking a Director - Network Engineer.
This is a remote position, and the candidate must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop the network strategy and roadmap that aligns to business and technology objectives.
-
Provide direction and manage work assignments for the Network Operations, Engineering, and Architecture teams.
-
Ensure the portfolio of network services projects are delivered on-time and within budget.
-
Monitor network SLAs and develop strategies to continuously improve service delivery performance.
-
Champion the use of automation, agile, and DevOps principles to improve quality, efficiency, and speed of delivery for network services.

Manage network technology lifecycle to drive innovation, improve security, and reduce technical debt.
-
Create consistent, repeatable processes, procedures, and standards that ensure the delivery of high quality and customer focused network services.

Typically manages a department or small sub-function for the organization OR a job function for a small to mid-sized business, which includes multiple teams led by managers and/or supervisors. May also lead through influence of other teams/departments. Typically responsible for creating workforce and staffing plans for department/unit to ensure availability of human capital necessary to accomplish departmental business results.

Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead the execution of the network services strategy and roadmap, ensuring network capabilities support business objectives, technology modernization initiatives, and operational excellence.

Provide leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction to a team of high-performing network engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
-
Ensure the successful delivery of network services initiatives, programs, and projects within established timelines and budget expectations.
-
Monitor service performance and key operational metrics, driving continuous improvements in reliability, resiliency, security, and customer experience.
-
Champion automation, Agile, DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code methodologies to improve quality, efficiency, scalability, and speed of delivery.
-
Lead the evolution of network technologies and platforms to drive innovation, strengthen security, reduce technical debt, and support cloud-first business strategies.
-
Establish and maintain repeatable processes, standards, governance, and best practices that ensure consistent delivery of high-quality network services.
-
Partner with business and technology stakeholders to align network capabilities with current and future business requirements.
-
Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, workforce planning, succession planning, and career development activities to build and sustain a high-performing engineering organization.

Drive adoption of modern networking practices across public cloud, private cloud, hybrid cloud, and emerging enterprise technologies.
Minimum Requirements
'- Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study.
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience required.

Experience leading and developing teams of high-performing engineering professionals in complex enterprise environments.

Strong understanding of modern enterprise networking architectures, resiliency design, site reliability engineering (SRE), security, observability, and performance optimization.
-
Practical experience supporting public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid cloud environments, with working knowledge of cloud networking, security, connectivity, and infrastructure services in AWS, Azure, and other enterprise cloud platforms. Strong understanding of FedRAMP security requirements and NIST 800-series frameworks (including NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, and NIST Risk Management Framework principles), and their application to network design, security controls, risk management, compliance, and operations within regulated environments.

Knowledge of modern infrastructure delivery practices, including automation, DevOps, Agile, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud-native networking concepts.

Working knowledge of networking technologies including WAN, LAN, Wireless, Routing, Switching, Security, Firewalls, Authentication, SD-WAN, SASE, Network Access Control (NAC), and network monitoring platforms.

Strong understanding of ITIL processes and service management principles, including experience managing SLAs, operational performance metrics, and service delivery excellence.

Experience translating network strategy into scalable, enterprise-wide solutions and operational outcomes.
-
Proven ability to build relationships, influence senior business and technology leaders, and drive cross-functional initiatives through collaboration and leadership.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Preferred certifications: Cisco (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE), AWS, Azure, ITIL, SAFe, CISSP, or equivalent industry certifications.
