2nd Shift Machinist/CNC/Manual

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Machinist to join our team in a dynamic job shop environment specializing in low-volume, high-mix production. Our facility is clean, well-lit, and climate-controlled, providing a comfortable and professional workspace. Come join the Minster Team!

Machinist Job Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC Machines (Haas, Okuma, PAMA, etc.)

  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate production

  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job

  • Perform in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments

  • Make program edits and offsets as needed to maintain tight tolerances

  • Troubleshoot machining issues and optimize setups for efficiency and quality

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

  • Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe working environment

  • Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and team members to meet production goals and deadlines

  • Assist with preventative maintenance and basic machine upkeep

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Direct customer contact may be required at times.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a job shop or high-mix environment

  • Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC machines, preferably Haas, Okuma, PAMA, etc.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and Technical drawings

  • Experience with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc)

  • Solid understanding of machining processes, tooling, speeds, and feeds

  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple jobs or setups

  • Commitment to quality, accuracy, and safety

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school training preferred

  • Physical Requirements: bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, climbing ladders, must be able to lift up to 40 pounds

  • Ability to read complex engineering drawing and work in close tolerances.

  • Ability to program CNC equipment a plus.

  • Attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
