Best AI Résumé Builders of 2026: Free Plans and Pricing

Writing the words, designing the page and matching a posting are three jobs. Few builders do all three well.

By Olive Jobs, which makes one of the tools here · Last checked November 3, 2026

We make Olive, so weigh this accordingly. A résumé builder has three jobs: getting the words out of you, making the page look right, and fitting it to a posting. Olive is built for the first and third and has almost nothing for the second, with one template and no design options.

Prices are as of November 2026 and link to each company's page. The order isn't a ranking. "Free" means different things on these plans, so read that column closely.

If you're staring at a blank page

Many builders hand you fields to fill. That helps if you know what to put in them. Kickresume's paid AI Writer works from a job title and a job ad instead. Olive has you talk about what you've done, and it writes the résumé from that conversation. It suits someone who has never written one, or whose last one is ten years old. Our guide on how to write a résumé is free if you'd rather do it yourself.

The other route is templates and examples. Kickresume lists 1,500+ samples on every plan, including free, and that's a lot to learn from.

If the look of the page matters

This is where to go past Olive. Kickresume's paid plans have 40 résumé templates, 26 fonts and unlimited colors. Its free plan has 4. Students who verify through ISIC, ITIC or UNiDAYS can get a free subscription, which is worth checking before you pay anyone. Huntr also gives you all its templates on the free plan.

If you need it matched to a posting

The two approaches here are "tell me what to change" and "change it for me." Jobscan does the first best: you get a Match Report with the skills to add and formatting advice, and you do the editing. Olive Jobs vs Jobscan compares the two in detail.

Olive does the second. Tailoring rewrites your résumé in the posting's terms where your history backs them, and shows each bullet before and after so you can keep, edit or revert it. Employers, schools, degrees and certifications that aren't in your profile get dropped automatically. You still have to read every line, and that goes for all of these.

Huntr has keyword extraction and match scores, and 2 job-tailored résumés on its free plan. Teal's angle is managing several versions alongside your applications; see Olive Jobs vs Teal.

If you're paying only once

Many people only need a résumé tool for a few months, and subscriptions are easy to forget. Rezi's $149 lifetime plan is the one-payment option here. Kickresume's quarterly and yearly rates lower the monthly cost, but they bill again every 3 or 12 months. Olive has no one-time price. How Olive works explains how each part of it works.

Where Olive isn't the answer

  • Design matters to you: a creative role, a portfolio, a résumé that needs to stand out on the page.
  • You want a keyword-by-keyword report to act on yourself.
  • You want to keep many versions and manage them like a library.
  • You don't want to talk, and would rather fill in fields. Olive can take an uploaded PDF or DOCX for a review, but the building happens in a conversation.

A good résumé also says the right things. Our guide on résumé keywords and ATS is useful with any of these.

Quick answers

What is the best free AI résumé builder?

It depends on what you need free. Huntr's free plan has unlimited base résumés and PDF export, with a small number of tailored ones. Kickresume's free plan has templates but not its AI Writer. Olive Jobs lets you build a résumé by talking, with limits on a free account.

Which AI résumé builder has the most templates?

Kickresume states the highest count we saw, 40 on a paid plan. Olive Jobs has one template and no design options, so it isn't the pick if the look of the page matters to you.

Will an AI résumé builder make things up?

Any of them can write something that isn't true, so read every line before you send it. On Olive Jobs, employers, schools, degrees and certifications not in your profile are dropped automatically, and you keep, edit or revert each rewritten bullet.
