Registered Nurse (RN) – Post-Surgical Acute Care

Forsyth Medical Center | Full-Time Nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) | Winston-Salem, NC

Join our Post-Surgical Acute Care team and care for post-operative and medically complex patients who require continued recovery, monitoring, and education before discharge. This fast-paced unit provides the opportunity to develop strong clinical skills while caring for patients with diverse surgical and medical needs. Working alongside a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you'll play a critical role in helping patients recover safely and achieve positive outcomes.

What You'll Do

What You'll Do

  • Provide comprehensive care to post-surgical and medically complex patients.

  • Monitor and assess patients recovering from a variety of surgical procedures.

  • Manage wound care, surgical drains, NG tubes, and other post-operative treatments.

  • Administer IV medications, blood transfusions, anticoagulants, and tube feedings.

  • Assess and manage pain while promoting patient comfort and recovery.

  • Monitor for complications and communicate changes in patient condition to the care team.

  • Educate patients and families on recovery expectations, medications, and discharge instructions.

  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.

  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress in the electronic medical record.

  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care that supports safe transitions home.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.

  • Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.

  • Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
