Full job description
Summary:
The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for ensuring safe and appropriate medication use through leadership of all hospital Pharmacy functions and staff. The Director of Pharmacy provides oversight and direction for the following elements of Pharmacy practice:

Medication procurement, storage, preparation, and dispensing/distribution

Training, competency, and development of Pharmacy staff

Pharmacy clinical services

Sterile compounding services

Budgeting and financial stewardship
The Director of Pharmacy collaborates with medical staff and hospital leaders to optimize patient care and safety and to align Pharmacy services and medication management practices with organizational initiatives. This position provides leadership for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee as well as support and guidance for the Antimicrobial Stewardship program. Responsibilities include implementation of policies, procedures, protocols, services, and technology to support Pharmacy practice and safe medication management processes. This position is accountable for compliance with state and federal regulations as well as standards established by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy, accrediting organizations, and hospital policy. The Director of Pharmacy will serve as the Pharmacist Manager as defined by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy and must fulfill all requirements of that position.
Qualifications:
Education/Degree(s): Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a PharmD or BS in Pharmacy required.
License(s): Must hold a current license to practice pharmacy in the State of North Carolina.
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience in an acute care environment and evidence of progressive management or supervisory experience required.
