Job Description

What you will be doing:

  • Preparing quality food for our guests
  • Actively share ideas, opinions and suggestions to improve the environment and menus
  • Ensure the consistency in the preparation of all food items for a la carte and/or buffet menus according to property recipes and standards
  • Provide training and development for culinary team members
  • Communicate effectively with the rest of the team and thrive for guest feedback.

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include: To fulfil this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

  • Basic culinary training, whether on the job or via schooling
  • One to 2 years’ experience in professional kitchen; comfortable with moderate volume of preparation
  • Luxury experience appreciated
  • Basic knife skills
  • Basic knowledge of sauce preparation, protein and vegetable cookery, garde manger (cold/ salads station)
  • Ability to read and follow recipes and directions,- and produce consistent end product
  • Basic knowledge of food safety practices
  • Current food handlers’ certificate

Additional Information

What is in it for you: Hourly Rate: Per the collective bargaining agreement with UNITE HERE Local 11, break-in rates apply to newly hired employees in non-tipped classifications during their first 18 months of employment.

  • Starts at $28.00/hour

  • Increases to $32.40/hour at 9 months

  • Reaches full scale of $37.00/hour at 18 months
