Job Description
A large healthcare organization is seeking a Sourcing Specialist to support its Strategic Sourcing and Category Management teams. This is a highly analytical, data-driven role responsible for providing the financial, market, and sourcing analysis needed to support complex purchasing decisions across the health system.
The ideal candidate will have a strong financial or business analysis background, advanced Excel skills, and a genuine interest in digging into data to understand cost drivers, utilization, pricing, and savings opportunities.
This individual will work closely with Category Managers, Value Analysis/clinical teams, Finance, Supply Chain, and business stakeholders to analyze data, support sourcing initiatives, build RFIs/RFPs, evaluate supplier proposals, and help develop fact-based recommendations.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys answering questions such as: What are we spending? What is driving the cost? What is the cost per case? How do suppliers compare? Where can we save? And what does the data tell us we should do next?
Key Responsibilities Provide analytical and sourcing support to Category Managers across complex purchasing categories. Analyze large datasets to identify trends, cost drivers, utilization patterns, pricing differences, and savings opportunities. Develop detailed cost-per-case, spend, pricing, utilization, benchmarking, and financial analyses to support sourcing and clinical product decisions. Use Excel extensively to organize, manipulate, analyze, and present sourcing and financial data. Turn complex data into clear insights and recommendations that Category Managers and other stakeholders can use to make decisions. Support Category Managers in developing and executing RFIs, RFPs, and other competitive sourcing events, including requirements gathering, supplier communications, proposal analysis, and scoring. Analyze supplier proposals and create fact-based comparisons across pricing, financial impact, capabilities, and business requirements. Support clinical and Value Analysis initiatives by providing the data needed to evaluate products, suppliers, utilization, and overall cost. Assist with business cases, cost models, savings calculations, benchmarking, and financial analyses for sourcing initiatives. Research market conditions, suppliers, pricing trends, and industry developments to support category strategies. Track sourcing projects against key milestones and help coordinate activities across Category Management, Supply Chain, Finance, clinical teams, and other stakeholders. Support contract implementation by monitoring expected savings and helping evaluate whether projected financial benefits are being realized. Develop expertise within assigned categories and become a reliable analytical resource for Category Managers and business stakeholders.
Skills and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Healthcare, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. 4+ years of relevant experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain, financial analysis, business analysis, procurement, project management, or a related analytical function. Strong financial and business analysis skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and identify actionable insights. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using spreadsheets to analyze pricing, spend, utilization, cost, and other financial data. Ability to build and interpret cost models, benchmarks, supplier comparisons, and savings analyses. Strong problem-solving skills and a natural curiosity for digging deeper into data rather than simply reporting numbers. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. Experience within strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain, healthcare, or financial/business analysis. Experience supporting RFIs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, and sourcing events. Experience with ERP, procure-to-pay, e-procurement, or sourcing systems. Healthcare supply chain experience and knowledge of healthcare products, services, or market dynamics are preferred. Experience supporting Category Managers, sourcing leaders, or clinical/Value Analysis teams is a plus. MBA or Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP) certification is preferred.
