Standard Job Description

As a Flight Test Aeronautical Engineer Modification (MOD) Manager, you will be a part of the Flight Test team of professionals. MOD Managers will have a strong background in developmental flight testing working with a team of engineers, maintainers, and logistics personnel and perform various processes and protocols. You will ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance in all aspects of flight test operations. MOD manager duties include, but not limited to, organizing all of the test vehicle activities necessary for the delivery of the test article to the customer, leading modification preparations for delivery of modification kits and actual modification of vehicle, conducting surveys of actual modification vehicle to determine modification start condition and configuration, ensure that manufacturing organizations build or acquire necessary tooling to support initial modification kit development, develop the modification schedule in close coordination with the Air Vehicle, Mission Systems, and Flight Test Engineering design teams. Assure configuration and operation of the modified test vehicle. The role demands the ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and 25% travel to an austere location. Travel, overtime, odd shifts, and weekend work may be required.

Designs, develops, and tests a variety of power plants, aircraft, missiles, and parts, taking into consideration the most efficient use of the natural laws affecting flight. Establishes structural specifications, performs stress analysis, and conducts performance tests.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, science, or technology discipline

Experience in working with technical teams

Experience with engineering documentations, configuration control and change boards

Developmental Flight Test experience

Desired Skills

Experience interacting with customers in a formal capacity or as subject matter expert

Experience creating/maintaining an Integrated Master Schedule Network

Works effectively with minimal guidance

Experience in an Flight Test planning or scheduling type of capacity

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $145100.00 - $269500.00

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
