Position: Google Ads & AEO Manager Reports to: VP of Growth Location: Los Angeles, CA / Hybrid Compensation: Top of Industry Compensation & Benefits
About Pique Pique is a category-defining wellness company that operates at the leading edge of performance branding. Our products are grounded in science and nature, our brand is driven by mission and emotion, and our culture is shaped by high performance and individual agency.
Position Overview We are hiring a Google Ads & AEO Manager to own Pique's Google account end to end and to win where search is going next: the AI answer engines. Google is the core: you will run every campaign type, from Search and Shopping to Performance Max, YouTube and Demand Gen. As more shoppers ask ChatGPT, Muse, Gemini and Google's AI Mode what to buy, you will make sure Pique is the answer. You will be measured by how many new customers search and AI delivers and what each one costs.
The Google account is yours: structure, bidding, budgets and daily pacing, the product feed, keywords and negatives, audiences, ad copy and testing. So is Pique's presence in AI answers, paid and organic. You decide what to change and you make the change yourself. You report to our VP of Growth and partner with our paid social, creative, eCommerce and analytics teams.
You will work directly with our founder and CEO and senior leadership as one close-knit team: short decision loops and real ownership. This is a hands-in-the-platform role with room to grow as fast as AI search does. If you have mainly overseen an agency that ran the account for you, or you wait for a Google rep to tell you what to change, this is not the role.
Responsibilities Own the Google Account
- Run Search, Shopping, Performance Max, YouTube and Demand Gen as one system, with campaigns combined so Google's bidding has enough data to learn, and split only when the results justify it.
- Set bid strategies, budgets and daily pacing against new-customer cost targets, and shift spend between campaigns as performance moves.
- Own brand and non-brand search: keyword strategy, match types, negatives, search-term mining and defense of our brand terms.
- Check the account every day, including a short check on weekends, and arrange coverage in advance when you are away.
Grow New Customers, Not Platform ROAS
- Bid and report toward new-customer acquisition, using Google's new-customer settings and our first-party customer data, and separate new from returning revenue in every read.
- Make campaign decisions on in-platform data, and partner with analytics on blended results, incrementality and geo tests to prove what Google truly adds.
- Run a continuous testing roadmap across bidding, structure, audiences, ad copy, assets and landing pages, changing one variable at a time so every test teaches us something.
Win the Answer Engines
- Track how ChatGPT, Muse, Gemini and Google's AI Mode and AI Overviews answer the questions our customers ask, how often they name Pique, and who they recommend instead.
- Raise how often and how well Pique is cited: work with ecommerce and content on answer-ready pages, product data, structured markup, reviews and third-party sources that AI models trust.
- Test paid placements as they open, from ads in Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode to ChatGPT ads, and measure what AI answers truly add in new customers, not just mentions.
Feed, Creative and Landing Pages
- Own the Merchant Center feed: titles, descriptions, images, pricing and disapprovals, written to sell a premium product rather than compete on price.
- Brief search copy, Shopping and Performance Max assets, and YouTube video with our creative team, and turn results into the next brief.
- Match every campaign to the right landing page, and work with ecommerce to build and test pages for search intent.
Tracking, Reporting and Planning
- Keep conversion tracking clean: one consistent conversion action, working tags and accurate new-customer signals. Spot problems early and drive the fix with analytics.
- Report weekly on spend, new customers, new-customer cost and pacing, leading with a clear recommendation on what to do next.
- Build the monthly plan and forecast for your channels with the VP of Growth, prepare the account ahead of launches, promotions and peak season, and test new Google products when they fit our goals.
Requirements
- First and foremost: you have personally run and scaled a Google Ads account for an ecommerce or DTC brand, making the changes yourself, not just overseeing an agency or a team that did.
- 4+ years of hands-on Google Ads experience, with deep, current command of Performance Max, Shopping, Search, YouTube and Merchant Center.
- Spend you scaled up yourself while holding efficiency, with new-customer results you can explain campaign by campaign.
- Hands-on work in AEO or SEO: you have measured and improved how a brand shows up in AI answers or organic search, and you know what makes a page or product the one a model cites. You test new AI ad products early because you want to be there before competitors are.
- Fluency in conversion tracking: Google Tag, Tag Manager, enhanced conversions, GA4 and Shopify integrations. You can tell when the data is wrong.
- Sharp analytical skills: advanced spreadsheets and a working understanding of incrementality, attribution limits and blended versus platform-reported results.
- Experience with subscription or premium consumer brands, or Google Ads scripts, is a plus.
- A track record of growing scope: promotions or bigger roles at each step, with measurable results in every one, and references from managers who would hire you again.
- Ability to receive and deliver radical candor — non-negotiable.
- Enthusiasm for shaping a motivated, talented, and truth-seeking team culture, with a commitment to personal growth and organizational excellence.
