The Staff Product Data Analyst role is part of the Data & Insights team at Slack, which is part of Salesforce. The team turns trusted data into insights that accelerate the growth and performance of the Slack product. You partner with leaders across Product, Engineering, Go-to-Market, and other data teams to solve complex product and business problems, and your analysis shapes strategic decisions and helps teams deliver better experiences for users and customers.

You also build AI-powered analytics automations that handle routine reporting, so you can focus on high-impact analysis and storytelling. Together, these automations and insights help teams make better decisions on their own.

Core Responsibilities & Scope

  • Lead product analytics projects from data modeling and metric design through advanced analysis and implementation, and influence senior stakeholders with concise, executive-ready recommendations.
  • Design scalable analytical frameworks and standard product metrics that measure performance and identify trends consistently across teams.
  • Build AI-powered analytics and data automations that connect product usage, customer engagement, and business outcomes into workflows that stakeholders use to answer their own questions.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering to design and maintain trusted data models that support operational reporting and advanced analytics.

Minimum Requirements

  • A related technical degree required.
  • 7+ years of experience applying analytics to solve complex product or business problems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) and experience with at least one analytics programming language, such as Python or R.
  • Ability to independently define ambiguous problems, develop analytical approaches, and lead initiatives from concept through implementation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building scalable Business Intelligence (BI) solutions in Tableau or Looker.
  • Experience creating self-service analytics experiences.
  • Outstanding communication and storytelling skills, with experience presenting to executive audiences.
  • Experience working in a technology company.
