Full job description

A Data Center Training Manager is responsible for developing,managing, and continuously improving training programs that ensure data centeremployees, technicians, engineers, and operations teams have the knowledge,skills, and certifications needed to operate facilities safely, efficiently,and in compliance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Training Strategy & ProgramDevelopment

  • Design and implement comprehensive training programs for data center operations staff.

  • Develop onboarding programs for new employees.

  • Create technical learning paths for operators, technicians, engineers, and managers.

  • Establish career development and succession planning programs.

  • Align training initiatives with organizational goals and operational requirements.

2. Technical Training Management

  • Coordinate training on:

  • Electrical systems (UPS, generators, switchgear)

  • Mechanical systems (HVAC, cooling infrastructure)

  • Building Management Systems (BMS)

  • Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools

  • Critical environment operations

  • Emergency response and incident management

  • Ensure employees maintain required technical certifications and qualifications.

3. Safety & Compliance

  • Develop and manage safety training programs.

  • Ensure compliance with:

  • OSHA requirements

  • Company safety standards

  • Client-specific requirements

  • Environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations

  • Track and report training completion and compliance metrics.

  • Coordinate drills and emergency response exercises.

4. Learning Management System (LMS)Administration

  • Manage the organization's LMS platform.

  • Maintain employee training records.

  • Monitor certification expirations and recertification requirements.

  • Produce training compliance and effectiveness reports.

  • Track Client training requirements for employees

5. Instructor & Content Management

  • Develop training materials, manuals, SOPs, and e-learning content.

  • Coordinate internal subject matter experts and external training providers.

  • Deliver classroom, virtual, and hands-on training sessions.

  • Standardize training content across multiple data center sites.

6. Performance Improvement

  • Conduct training needs assessments.

  • Identify skill gaps through audits, operational reviews, and performance data.

  • Measure training effectiveness using KPIs and operational metrics.

  • Recommend improvements to operational procedures and training programs.

7. Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with Operations Managers, Facility Managers, Engineering Teams, and Client Leadership.

  • Support workforce planning and readiness initiatives.

  • Provide regular training status updates to senior leadership.

  • Collaborate with HR on employee development programs.

Typical Qualifications

  • 5-10+ years of data center, critical facilities, or technical operations experience.

  • 3-5+ years of training, learning & development, or leadership experience.

  • Knowledge of:

  • Critical facility operations

  • Electrical and mechanical systems

  • Adult learning methodologies

  • Learning Management Systems (LMS)

  • AI training tools

  • Safety and compliance programs
