Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.

The Manager - Strategy & Operations role leads strategic, operational, and commercial initiatives to advance Tempus’ precision medicine and Life Science Sequencing/CDx business. The position owns market and competitive strategy, leads commercial marketing programs, and partners with business development leadership to shape and close complex client proposals. Additionally, the role drives commercial operations across internal teams, builds scalable processes, and leads go-to-market execution for new offerings. This role will also manage and develop associate-level team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with Tempus' business development (BD) leadership to shape account strategy and drive partnership opportunities with key biopharma and academic research accounts, from early conversations through deal close.
  • Own the development of client-facing proposals, contracts, and written communications for the Life Science Sequencing/CDx business, ensuring materials are tailored to customer needs and aligned with overall commercial strategy.
  • Lead commercial marketing strategy for the team, including nurture campaigns, conference/webinar strategy, collateral, and website content, and measure impact against pipeline goals.
  • Define the target account strategy for biotech and research customers, overseeing the research and prioritization of companies, institutions, contacts, assets, and pipeline areas of interest.
  • Lead strategic and market analyses using pharma and competitive intelligence to inform positioning, key differentiators, and portfolio decisions, and present recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Drive the development and execution of go-to-market strategies in partnership with commercial, medical, product, regulatory, and laboratory teams.
  • Design and implement scalable processes for customer engagement, outreach, and retention, and own team KPIs and performance reporting.
  • Serve as the commercial voice to Operations, Account Management, Product & Engineering, escalating operational challenges, prioritizing product enhancement requests, and guiding new feature testing and rollout.
  • Build and manage strategic relationships with operational stakeholders across partner organizations, serving as the primary point of escalation.
  • Lead cross-functional planning and execution for key strategic projects, owning timelines, milestones, and risk management to successfully bring new offerings to market.
  • Manage, coach, and develop associate-level team members, setting priorities and building a culture of strong execution.

QUALIFICATIONS Required:

  • 6+ years of pharma, biotech, diagnostics, or consulting experience, with a track record of leading complex projects and delivering results.
  • Significant customer-facing experience in BD, client services, or consulting, including ownership of client relationships and proposals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing client-facing proposals and presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, setting priorities and making decisions with incomplete information across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience managing or mentoring team members, or leading cross-functional teams without direct authority.

Preferred:

  • Experience in oncology, diagnostics, CDx, NGS, or omics technologies strongly preferred
  • B.S./M.S. in a life sciences field preferred
