Full job description

We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Seattle, Washington D.C., Raleigh, London, and Amsterdam. About the Team The Fraud team is building the largest network of trusted identities in the US. We help customers onboard legitimate users and stop bad actors before they cause downstream harm. Our products span the risk lifecycle: Identity Verification and Monitor for onboarding and compliance, and Protect, our fraud intelligence platform.

We are extending that network to AI agents. Agents are starting to open accounts, link accounts, move money, and transfer between wallets for consumers. The protocols forming around them standardize how an agent identifies itself and what it may do, and leave the question of whether to trust it to the business on the receiving end. Agent Trust, our Know Your Agent (KYA) product, answers it, on top of the identity, consent, and risk infrastructure Plaid already runs.

You will take over Agent Trust: the decision on whether an action an AI agent takes on a financial account can be trusted. You will define how Plaid identifies agents, verifies the people behind them, and evaluates what they are authorized to do, and how that connects to portable identity, reusable KYC, and consumer permissions. You will sell that decision to financial institutions and to Plaid customers, and you will carry Plaid’s requirements into the standards bodies shaping this space, with the fraud engineering and data teams behind you.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the vision, strategy, roadmap, and OKRs for Agent Trust. Decide what Plaid offers, to whom, and how it is packaged and priced.

  • Define how Plaid identifies agents, verifies the humans behind them, and evaluates what they are allowed to do, for new accounts and existing ones.

  • Connect Agent Trust to portable identity, reusable KYC, and consumer permission management, with the product teams that own those surfaces.

  • Work directly with financial institutions and Plaid customers as the product expert: discovery, design partnerships, and GTM enablement.

  • Represent Plaid’s product requirements in the industry groups and protocol working groups writing the specs for agent identity and authorization, with Partnerships and Legal.

  • Partner with data science and engineering on what the product needs: signals, labels, success metrics, and the requirements that tie them together.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of product management or equivalent product ownership, with meaningful time in fraud, identity, authentication, or payments risk

  • Hands-on depth in identity and authorization protocols (OAuth 2.x and OIDC, FIDO and WebAuthn, FDX or Open Banking consent), or in bot, device, and agent detection systems

  • Track record of growing a new product line, from early design partners and first customers to repeatable sales

  • Experience building with and selling to enterprise customers or financial institutions

  • Clear writing, and the ability to translate between protocol engineers, data scientists, GTM, and executives

Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. To support that mission, we seek to build a diverse team of driven individuals who care deeply about making the financial ecosystem more equitable. We recognize that strong qualifications can come from both prior work experiences and lived experiences. We encourage you to apply to a role even if your experience doesn't fully match the job description. We are always looking for team members that will bring something unique to Plaid!
