Staff Accountant/Sr. Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented accounting specialist to join our team in Long Beach, California. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys owning core accounting activities, improving accuracy in financial reporting, and working across daily transactions and month-end processes. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, communicates effectively with internal partners, and is motivated to continue growing within a dynamic organization.

Responsibilities:

• Manage general ledger activity and prepare journal entries to support accurate monthly and year-end financial reporting.

• Complete account reconciliations, analyze balance sheet activity, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

• Lead key month-end close tasks, including accruals, prepaid expense tracking, and review of financial variances.

• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash application, and bank reconciliation processes to maintain accurate records.

• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audit requests.

• Assist with financial analysis and reporting by using Excel tools to organize data, identify trends, and validate results.

• Contribute to accounting operations related to inventory, cost accounting, or manufacturing environments when applicable.

• Work within ERP systems such as SAP or S/4HANA to record transactions, review data, and support accounting workflows. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.

• At least 3-5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting with strong general ledger knowledge.

• Demonstrated success handling month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, and variance review.

• Practical experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash applications, and bank reconciliations.

• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including lookup formulas, pivot tables, conditional calculations, and data analysis functions.

• Experience using SAP, S/4HANA, or a comparable ERP platform in an accounting setting.

• Ability to support audits through the preparation of financial schedules and organized documentation.

• Background in manufacturing, aerospace, or industrial environments is preferred, along with a proactive attitude, strong communication skills, and interest in growth.
