Full job description

In addition to the Registered Professional Nurse responsibilities, the Human Milk Bank Coordinator (HMBC) is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Standards of Operation for Crouse Hospital’s Human Milk Bank. This includes but is not limited to reviewing medical criteria for donor participation, quality standards for the safe processing, handling and storage and distribution of donor human milk to infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The HMBC ensures the standards of operation are reviewed annually by the medical advisory board of the Human Milk Bank. Additionally, HMBC ensures that the Human Milk Bank NYS License is current and compliant with all regulatory standards.

The HMBC functions and contributes as a member of the NICU team. Also, HMBC works as the primary liaison to the Medical Director of the Human Milk Bank.

Job Requirements:

  • CLC Certification required. IBCLC Certification preferred.

  • Must be Licensed as a Registered Nurse within New York State.

  • Experience as a Neonatal staff nurse with demonstrated expertise required.

  • Experience in pasteurization and donor recruitment preferred.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire or within 6 weeks after hire.
