Full job description

Akima Mission Optimization (AMO) is seeking an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Specialist to support the NSWC Dahlgren Division EEO Office (Code 10E). The successful candidate will provide on‑site support with day‑to‑day operational activities, including Reasonable Accommodation (RA) case management, Affirmative Employment reporting, EEO compliance support, and training assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative, analytical, and technical support to the NSWCDD Reasonable Accommodation Program.

  • Conduct interactive discussions between employees and supervisors related to accommodation requests and support the RA Coordinator in determining appropriate accommodations.

  • Manage and track Reasonable Accommodation cases and supporting documentation in the Navy’s NEAT (Electronic Accommodations Tracker) system.

  • Maintain compliance with Reasonable Accommodation processes, policies, and procedures; ensure confidential medical/accommodation files are properly maintained and stored separately from personnel files.

  • Assist in drafting accommodation determination letters and supporting documentation in accordance with Navy policy.

  • Support the development of the annual EEOC MD‑715 report and the NSWCDD Affirmative Employment Plan.

  • Assist with ongoing efforts to develop and maintain a Model EEO Program based on EEOC guidance.

  • Help develop, update, and maintain EEO training materials, presentations, and briefing content.

  • Assist in delivering EEO training, supervisor briefings, and new employee orientation sessions.

  • Provide support to the Complaints Program Manager through case file maintenance, documentation review, and informal resolution assistance.

  • Review, analyze, and validate EEO‑related data to ensure accuracy, identify discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Draft and prepare reports, program documentation, and statistical summaries for EEO leadership.

  • Develop and present clear, concise information in both written and oral formats when coordinating with EEO staff.

  • Ensure compliance with federal EEO laws and directives, including the Rehabilitation Act, PWFA, PUMP Act, Title VII, EEOC MD‑110, and MD‑715.

Qualifications

  • Must hold an active DoD-issued Interim-Secret (or higher) security clearance (Active Secret preferred).

  • Must adhere to all Privacy Act requirements and NDA protocols associated with handling sensitive EEO and RA information.

  • Associate degree in Human Resources -- OR -- related field OR three (3) + years of progressively responsible HR/EEO experience.

  • Experience providing administrative or technical support within a federal‑sector EEO or Human Resources office.

  • Working knowledge of Section 501/508 of the Rehabilitation Act, ADA, PWFA, and PUMP Act as applied to Reasonable Accommodations.

  • Familiarity with EEOC MD‑110 complaint processing procedures and timelines.

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills with careful attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, exercise discretion, and work independently with minimal oversight while providing professional customer support.

Desired Qualifications

  • Completion of the EEOC‑approved 32‑Hour Basic EEO Counselor Training (and annual refresher), plus experience with Reasonable Accommodation or EEO complaints in a federal environment.

  • Familiarity with NEAT (Navy Electronic Accommodations Tracker) or similar EEO/RA case management systems.

Any clearance requirements for this position are established by the government contract.
