Position Description:

The Job Coach works directly with students with special needs at various job sites and provides on the job training and feedback; also works closely with employers at various community/job sites. May require lifting and/or restraints.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the implementation of the Windham Public Schools Board of Education and administrative policies, rules, regulations and directives

  • Follow Windham Public school policy to ensure student safety

  • Follow teacher's oral or written directions with accuracy

  • Assist the teacher with documentation of student progress

  • Encourage students to interact appropriately with peers

  • Assist students during recess, breaks, emergency drills, assemblies, on school buses and field trips

  • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Experience working with young children

  • Ability to implement behavioral goals

  • Ability to understand child development

  • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Effective, active listening skills

  • Ability to work effectively with others

  • Organizational and problem solving skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalency

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Successful experience in the position

  • Two (2) years of experience working with children or young adults in a school setting, preferred

  • Experience working with students with special needs

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred, not required

Salary: $22.52/hr - 28.30/hr per hour (Subject to change following ratified contract negotiations.)

This position is benefits eligible:
