GENERAL SUMMARY Sylvan Learning is looking to add Lead Teachers to our growing team in one or more of our locations in the Greater Raleigh Area. Locations include Wake Forest, Raleigh, Garner & Knightdale. The Lead Teacher is responsible for managing the overall customer experience, managing the day-to-day Center operations, including scheduling, to ensure a consistent, quality educational experience for Sylvan customers. He/she also tutors when needed and/or assists tutors as needed. He/she ensures that policies and procedures are executed according to Sylvan standards. The Lead Teacher communicates with Center staff and serves as the principle point of contact for the Director and/or Owner. BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION * $16- $18/hour * 15-30 hours/week * Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance options available for all employees who consistently work 30 or more hours per week * Varied Schedule: Time blocks available Mon-Thurs 12-8pm, Saturdays 8am-1pm * Fun yet fast paced work environment * Rewarding job to help students and families find success ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Manages the day-to-day operation of the Center while maintaining high quality personal customer service * Provide one on one and small group tutoring across a variety of K-12 subjects * Manages student programs * Manages instructional schedule * Effectively communicates with customers via email, phone, and text * Manages student, parent, and teacher expectations * Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with teachers, educational specialists and other school administrators and parent/teacher organizations through school visits and community partnerships KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED * Four year degree preferred * A minimum of three years of customer service experience * Experience tutoring and/or teaching preferred * Experience using Microsoft Office and other standard business applications used by the Center, including current social media tools * Experience using social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) preferred * Familiarity with instructional technology and tablet computers preferred * Knowledge of current education trends preferred SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED * Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills * Outgoing and people-oriented * Proven ability to effectively use customer service to establish and build relationships * Proven sales skills with a strong sense of urgency * Strong analytical and problem solving skills * Strong word processing, data entry, and other administrative skills * Strong organizational skills; Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible * Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing; Ability to proofread and edit copy * Ability to work collaboratively; Strong team player * Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and some Saturdays The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
