Job Title: Engineering Lab AssistantAgency: Augusta Technical College Job Requisition ID: JR0000004551Shift: Not Applicable (United States of America)Compensation Details: $22.00 TO $24.00; COMMENSURATE WITH EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE. Job Description: JOB SUMMARY The Engineering Lab Assistant will support the daily operations of the engineering lab by assisting instructors with lab setup, student training, and equipment management. This role ensures a safe, organized learning environment, provides instructional support, and helps maintain accurate records and inventory while using technology effectively.

MAJOR DUTIES Under general supervision:

  • Assists the course instructor with the day-to-day activities and services of the lab area, including scheduling, lab set-up, training students on lab equipment and tools, and management of lab equipment and supplies.

  • Ensures that the lab/classroom is clean, safe, and organized, promoting safe lab practices.

  • Maintains and files course documents in accordance with the College and program policies and procedures.

  • Proctors tests/examinations and provides instructional and/or remediation support under the supervision of the course instructor.

  • Conducts periodic inventory of lab resources and assists in requisitioning of lab supplies.

  • Helps to update and install lab software for engineering technology applications.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the course lab instructor, the Department Head, and/or the Dean.

  • Maintains credentials required for the position and profession.

  • Demonstrates respect for students as individuals.

  • Other duties as assigned

COMPETENCIES Teaching experience at the K-12 and/or postsecondary level, excellent human relations skills, effective oral and written communication skills, knowledgeable of common software programs (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point), and the ability to implement technology into instructions. Independent learner with minimum supervision required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Three years of technical/hands-on experience in electronics/electrical design, prototyping, testing, or electrical/electromechanical maintenance, or other related engineering discipline.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Five or more years of industrial experience or applicable laboratory experience.
