Job Description

The General Accounting Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the General Accounting function for Central Montana Medical Center (CMMC). This position ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information and supports the organization’s financial reporting, budgeting, audit, and regulatory requirements.

The General Accounting Manager provides leadership and direction to accounting staff, establishes and maintains effective accounting processes and internal controls, and serves as a key resource to department leaders and the Finance team. The position works closely with the CFO and other members of the Finance team to ensure financial information is accurate, meaningful, and available to support sound operational and strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative, detail-oriented accounting professional who can balance strong technical accounting skills with a service-oriented approach to supporting CMMC leaders and departments.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant accounting experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience required.

  • Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.

  • Healthcare accounting experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, and month-end close required.

  • Experience with accounting/ERP systems required.

  • Experience with Critical Access Hospital or other rural healthcare accounting is preferred.
