Full job description

The mission of the SC Commission for the Blind (SCCB), established in 1966, is to provide quality individualized vocational rehabilitation services, independent living services, and prevention-of-blindness services to South Carolinians who are blind or low vision leading to competitive employment and social and economic independence. Our goal is to become a national model vocational rehabilitation agency for people who are blind or low vision, demonstrating quality services, accountability, innovation, effectiveness and efficiency. The Rehabilitation Technology Coordinator shall provide administrative support to the Rehabilitation Technology team. This will include managing the referral process, scheduling of assessments, and coordinating device delivery to ensure timely service delivery for SCCB consumers. Duties include:

  • Monitor referrals for assistive technology and low vision assessments.

  • Coordinate with Rehabilitation Technology staff to schedule assessments for consumers in a timely manner.

  • Utilize the case management system to document actions and efforts.

  • Collaborate with Consumer Services staff as needed to ensure timely assessments are provided and all required documentation is received.

  • Track status of assessment recommendations and timely device purchases, maintain a tracking system until device delivery occurs.

  • Coordinate delivery and training of devices.

  • Under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Consumer Services, assist with policy and procedure development for the unit.

  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to develop reporting.

  • Other duties as assigned.

A high school diploma and relevant experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services or a bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.Knowledge of assistive technology for individuals who are blind or have low vision and case management experience.
