Senior Tax Accountant / Experienced Tax Preparer

Focus: High-Net-Worth Individuals & Trusts

Location: Reston, VA | Hybrid schedule with 3 days onsite per week

A well-established wealth management and advisory organization is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant or Experienced Tax Preparer to support its growing tax practice serving high-net-worth individuals, trusts, executives, endowments, and complex personal planning clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys both hands-on return preparation and high-level tax research, while working closely with financial planners in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and review individual and trust income tax returns

  • Support tax planning efforts for high-net-worth clients

  • Calculate quarterly estimated tax payments

  • Research tax laws, IRS guidance, and return positions

  • Assist with responses to tax notices and examinations

  • Partner with financial planners on tax projections and planning strategies

  • Contribute to the tax portion of comprehensive personal financial plans

  • Help train and support seasonal tax preparers

  • Prepare educational materials on new tax legislation, planning concepts, and practice developments

  • Assist with special tax and planning projects as needed

Requirements

What You Bring

  • CPA or CPA candidate

  • Strong experience preparing and/or reviewing high-net-worth individual returns

  • Background working with high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and complex personal tax situations

  • Ability to interpret and apply tax law with strong attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Adobe PDF

  • Experience with BNA Income Tax Planner preferred

  • Familiarity with ProSystem fx or CCH Axcess preferred

  • Experience with multi-state tax, foreign income and asset reporting, pass-through entities, and sole proprietorships is a plus

  • Comfortable working in a paperless environment
