Full job description

About Thread AI Thread AI is focused on building an AI orchestration engine and is looking for dedicated individuals to join its growing team. Our goal is to make infrastructure simple for enterprises and public sector agencies seeking to get the most from AI and AI Agents. Headquartered in New York, our growing team is a group of experts who have a track record of creating and executing against complex workflows and infrastructure.

About the Role You will help federal customers decide where AI can improve their work, then get that capability into use. You will investigate their data and processes, build workflows in Lemma, and test them with the people doing the work. That may mean fixing a handoff between offices or helping a team turn a successful evaluation into a workflow they use every week. You will own problem definition, workflow requirements, customer execution and adoption. Your Applied AI Engineer partner will own production software and integrations. Together, you will decide what to build and how to measure success. Growth will own commercial negotiations and account expansion, informed by the results you deliver. This is an individual contributor role with responsibility for leading customer engagements.

  • Work alongside users to understand their decisions and the obstacles that consume their time. Identify a problem worth solving and establish how to measure improvement.

  • Investigate available data and systems with the customer and your engineering partner. Surface access, data-quality and integration dependencies early.

  • Build agents and workflows in Lemma. Test their logic with realistic examples, review outputs with users and refine what you build.

  • Agree on scope, milestones and acceptance criteria. Keep customer decisions and dependencies moving, and raise changes that affect delivery commitments.

  • Run working sessions and training. Help users operate the workflow independently and recognize when it needs attention.

  • Measure adoption and results, and explain them clearly to users, program leaders and technical stakeholders.

  • Bring specific customer problems back to product and engineering. Develop reusable workflows and implementation guidance from what succeeds in the field.

  • Work with Growth on discovery and evaluations, using customer evidence to shape feasible follow-on work.

What we are looking for

  • Four or more years of relevant experience, or comparable evidence of independently leading customer delivery, product implementation or operational technology adoption.

  • A track record of taking an ambiguous problem through implementation and into sustained use, with clear evidence of what changed for users.

  • Strong analytical judgment. You can investigate data, question assumptions and turn competing requests into a manageable scope.

  • Technical fluency with APIs, data structures and AI models. You can follow engineering tradeoffs and learn a product well enough to build useful workflows yourself.

  • The ability to work credibly with users, technical teams and senior stakeholders and help them reach decisions.

  • Clear writing and practical execution: useful requirements, decision records, training materials and concise updates.

Relevant backgrounds include implementation consulting, product management, analytics, customer delivery and military or government technology adoption. We welcome varied educational backgrounds and equivalent practical experience; an advanced degree is optional.

Nice to haves

  • Working with federal agencies or military teams and understanding how operational users, program offices and technical stakeholders make decisions.

  • Using SQL, Python or another analytical tool to investigate data or prototype a solution.

  • Building or deploying AI applications, including evaluations and workflows with human review.

  • Helping users change established processes and measuring whether a new tool improved their work.

Why Thread AI You will work with a founding team that built AI products at Palantir and with the engineers building Lemma. You will have room to investigate a customer’s problem, build the workflow and see what changes when people use it. Your field experience will help shape both the product and how we deliver it to federal customers. We’re committed to creating a space where our employees can bring their full selves to work and have equal opportunity to succeed. So regardless of race, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, origin, ability, or age, we encourage you to apply! Don’t meet every single requirement? If you’re excited about this role and the company but your past experience doesn’t align with every qualification, we still encourage you to apply anyway - we’d love to get to know you and see if there’s a place for you at Thread!

Compensation The annual base pay range is $150,000-$200,000, plus equity. An active U.S. Secret security clearance or higher is preferred, but not required. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national or U.S. lawful, permanent resident. This is a full-time position, preferably based in New York City. Travel: Approximately 25-50%.
