Job Description Summary:

The simulation technologist is responsible for operating and maintaining part-task trainers, mannequin-based simulators, surgical simulators and associated audio visual and computer hardware and software in labs and classrooms in the Nursing Department of the College. Trains and assists faculty in the use of technology to facilitate the process of teaching and learning. Assists faculty in the development of simulation-based instructional components.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma, GED , or equivalent required.

  • 5 years of job-related experience, preferably in nursing technology, healthcare simulation, or related simulation systems

  • Associate’s degree preferred in related medical study such as EMT -Paramedic, RN, Respiratory Therapy or Biomedical Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or related area.

Job Requirements:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related and laboratory equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, portable electronic devices, simulation equipment, simulation recording hardware and software. Ability to moderately lift, push, pull and carry; walk, sit and stand for up to 8 hrs; and work with electrical power and compressed gases. Involves some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, and repetitive motions.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ensures simulation learning activities are supported during the evening and/or on the weekend.
