Full job description

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbents in this position support the coordination and management of financial and operating functions of the BOCES Central Business Office. The duties are performed under the general direction of the BOCES Director of Business Operations. Direct supervision and leadership are exercised by professional financial, administrative support, and clerical staff. Responsibilities include analyzing operational procedures, implementing improvements, managing school financial data, assisting in preparation of school district expense and revenue budgets, and other budget and finance related documents. Other duties include participation in accounting functions, including but not limited to, federal grants, cash functions, capital project tracking, and other related tasks. Assists in the development and administration of personnel policies, resolution of employee work-related issues, hiring procedures and staff evaluation. Additionally, they develop and monitor fiscal data, policies and procedures for school districts, and prepare and compile data for financial and statistical reports while serving as a liaison between district staff, administration, and Boards of Education. Serves on committees and attends Board of Education meetings as required. Does related work as required. Experience or educational background in accounting, finance, or school district business office operations is preferred.

Job Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A) Possession of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, business administration or closely related field and three (3) years of budgeting, purchasing, payroll, or accounting experience, one (1) of which must have been in a supervisory position; OR

B) Possession of an Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration or closely related field and five (5) years of budgeting, purchasing, payroll, or accounting experience, two of which must have been in a supervisory position; OR

C) Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and seven (7) years of budgeting, purchasing, payroll, or accounting experience, three (3) of which must have been in a supervisory position; OR

D) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of A), B), and C) above.
