Full job description

Description

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to design, implement, automate, and maintain development and deployment infrastructure supporting secure enterprise applications. The successful candidate will work closely with solution architects, software developers, AI/ML engineers, QA engineers, security personnel, and infrastructure stakeholders to establish secure, reliable, repeatable, automated, and auditable software-delivery processes.

The role is responsible for Linux environments, CI/CD pipelines, application deployment, configuration management, SQL/MariaDB environments, monitoring and logging, release management, troubleshooting, and operational support across development, testing, staging, and production environments. The team follows Agile/Scrum practices and delivers software iteratively through sprint-based development and recurring releases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines for enterprise application components.

  • Establish and support development, testing, staging, and production environments and administer Linux-based application environments.

  • Automate application build, testing, packaging, deployment, configuration, and release-management processes.

  • Support deployment and operation of React front-end applications, backend APIs, database components, workflow services, and AI/ML integrations.

  • Implement Infrastructure as Code and configuration automation where supported; develop and maintain shell scripts and automation tools.

  • Manage environment-specific configuration, secrets, credentials, certificates, keys, and service configuration.

  • Support enterprise identity and access-management integrations, including SSO/MFA.

  • Support SQL and MariaDB/MySQL database environments, including configuration, schema deployment, migrations, backup/recovery, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production cutover.

  • Establish centralized application and infrastructure logging, monitoring, health checks, operational dashboards, and alerting.

  • Collaborate with QA to integrate automated testing and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.

  • Implement and support secure DevSecOps practices, vulnerability remediation, patching, configuration management, and technical security controls.

  • Maintain release histories, deployment records, configuration documentation, and technical artifacts supporting traceability and auditability.

  • Develop deployment, rollback, backup, recovery, and operational procedures and support recurring application releases and production hypercare.

  • Troubleshoot application, database, Linux, network, authentication, configuration, integration, and performance issues.

  • Use VS Code or comparable tools for scripting, configuration management, infrastructure code, Git workflows, and troubleshooting.

  • Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews/demos, retrospectives, estimation, and release planning.

  • Collaborate with developers and QA throughout each sprint to remove deployment blockers, automate delivery, and support sprint/release objectives.

  • Develop and maintain operational runbooks and technical documentation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, cloud/platform engineering, systems engineering, or enterprise application deployment.

  • Strong hands-on experience administering Linux environments and strong proficiency with the Linux command line and shell scripting.

  • Experience with Linux system configuration, package management, permissions, processes, services, networking, logging, and troubleshooting.

  • Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and supporting development, testing, staging, and production environments.

  • Experience with Git, automated application build/test/package/deployment, infrastructure or configuration automation, and containerized application deployment.

  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational database systems and experience supporting MariaDB/MySQL or comparable platforms.

  • Experience with centralized logging, monitoring, health checks, alerting, secrets/configuration management, networking, DNS, TLS/certificates, firewalls, and application connectivity.

  • Understanding of enterprise identity/access management, secure SDLC, and DevSecOps practices.

  • Experience developing deployment procedures, operational documentation, and technical runbooks.

  • Proficiency with VS Code or comparable tools for scripting, automation, infrastructure configuration, and Git workflows.

  • Hands-on experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and supporting sprint-based development, testing, demonstrations, retrospectives, and recurring releases.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on MariaDB/MySQL experience, including configuration, security, monitoring, performance troubleshooting, backup, and recovery.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, configuration-management technologies, and containerized application environments.

  • Experience supporting enterprise React/API/database application stacks.

  • Experience with federal information-security and authorization processes, including familiarity with NIST security controls, FISMA, and ATO processes.

  • Experience with enterprise SSO/MFA, Microsoft 365, and/or SharePoint integrations.

  • Experience supporting AI/ML or LLM-enabled applications and automated security scanning in CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience with application, database, and infrastructure performance monitoring and production cutovers/hypercare.
