Full job description

Overview

Pulse is tackling one of the most persistent challenges in data infrastructure: extracting accurate, structured information from complex documents at scale. We have a breakthrough approach to document understanding that combines intelligent schema mapping with fine-tuned extraction models where legacy OCR and other parsing tools consistently fail.

We are a small, fast-growing team of engineers in San Francisco powering Fortune 100 enterprises, YC startups, public investment firms, and growth-stage companies. We are backed by tier 1 investors and growing quickly.

What makes our tech special is our multi-stage architecture:

  • Layout understanding with specialized component detection models

  • Low-latency OCR models for targeted extraction

  • Advanced reading-order algorithms for complex structures

  • Proprietary table structure recognition and parsing

  • Fine-tuned vision-language models for charts, tables, and figures

If you are passionate about the intersection of computer vision, NLP, and data infrastructure, your work at Pulse will directly impact customers and shape the future of document intelligence.

What we are looking for

  • 5 days in-office at our San Francisco office

  • Eager to learn and adapt quickly

  • Prior startup or founding experience is a plus

About the Role As Pulse’s first dedicated Growth and Marketing hire, you will own how Pulse explains its work to the world. At its core this is a technical writing and communication role: turning what our engineering team builds into clear, precise content for technical audiences across blog posts, social media, product launches, sales materials, and events. This role is ideal for someone who writes exceptionally well, is curious about how document AI systems work, and wants to build a marketing function from the ground up alongside the founders.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit technical content: deep-dive blog posts on how our models and pipeline work, benchmark releases, release notes, and customer stories

  • Run Pulse’s LinkedIn and X presence in a consistent company voice and grow an audience of technical practitioners

  • Own core messaging and positioning across our priority industries and keep it current as the product evolves

  • Run product launches end to end, from understanding what shipped to the blog post, landing page, social, and email that announce it

  • Turn engineering work, evaluations, and customer results into materials the sales team uses: one-pagers, solution briefs, and evaluation guides

  • Plan and execute Pulse’s presence at industry conferences, executive dinners, and roundtables

  • Work in HubSpot and Webflow, and report on inbound interest, content engagement, and share of voice

Requirements

  • 0-4 years in technical writing, content, developer relations, or marketing at a startup or agency; new grads with strong writing and a portfolio of published work are encouraged to apply

  • Exceptional written communication for technical audiences, with the ability to explain how a system works clearly and without hype

  • Enough technical fluency to interview engineers, read a benchmark table, and hold your own in conversations with engineering and data teams

  • Experience writing for social media, or a clear point of view on what works on LinkedIn and X for a technical audience

  • Bias to ship: a blog post or landing page in hours, not weeks

Nice to have

  • Experience writing about developer tools, data infrastructure, or AI products

  • Has grown an audience online through writing

  • Technical background (computer science, engineering, math, or a quantitative field)

  • Experience running a launch, content program, or event end to end

Compensation and benefits Competitive base salary plus equity, relocation assistance for Bay Area moves, daily meal stipend, medical, vision, and dental coverage.
