Position Highlights
Specialty: Gastroenterologist
We welcome both experienced physicians and new graduates who are passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Qualifications
-
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology (Board Eligibility required within 5 years of residency completion)

Commitment to compassionate, evidence-based patient care

Strong clinical and communication skills
-
Interest in building long-term patient relationships within the community
Opportunity Details
-
Primarily outpatient-focused gastroenterology practice with inpatient consult responsibilities
-
Average clinic volume of approximately 18–22 patients per day
-
Diagnose and manage a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions
-
Perform endoscopic and procedural GI services
-
Collaborate closely with primary care providers, surgeons, hospitalists, and specialty teams
-
Opportunity to help expand and shape GI services within the region
Procedural & Hospital Responsibilities
-
Minimum of one dedicated procedural/scoping day per week
-
Procedures performed at the Leroy Outpatient Center and Canton-Potsdam Hospital
-
Operating room access available for higher-acuity patients and advanced GI procedures
Call Coverage
-
Shared 1:4 call schedule
-
Includes inpatient consultative and procedural call responsibilities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.
For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.
