Full job description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Insomnia Cookies is looking for a Paralegal / Legal Assistant who thrives on order in the middle of controlled chaos - someone who can juggle contracts, compliance, real estate, and the occasional fire drill without dropping a single ball. You'll work directly with our Director of Legal and Chief Legal Officer, which means you'll see (almost) everything, and you'll be trusted to run with a lot of it.

What You'll Do:

• Provide administrative and legal research support across contracts, real estate, employment law, policy, compliance matters and more

  • Own project and task oversight for the Legal team - spotting action items, managing them to completion, and following up so nothing slips

• Be a right hand to the Director of Legal on day-to-day priorities

  • Manage a busy inbox: triage incoming communications, draft responses, flag what's urgent, and make sure high-priority items get timely attention

  • Coordinate legal workstreams including document management, signature logistics, and matter tracking across active transactions

  • Draft, organize, and manage legal documents and correspondence - NDAs, transaction documents, and communications with external counsel and counterparties

  • Track deadlines, deliverables, and commitments across every active matter

  • Support internal investigations, employee disputes, and litigation as needed

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree (JD or bar admission is not required for this role)

  • 1–3 years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or in a related legal operations role, at a law firm or in-house legal department

  • Sharp organizational instincts and an eye for detail - you catch what others miss, and nothing falls through the cracks on your watch

  • Sound judgment about when to run with something and when to loop someone in

  • Clear, precise written and verbal communication

  • The ability to manage multiple high-priority workstreams at once without letting quality slip

  • Self-direction - you manage a big workload and hit deadlines without needing to be chased

  • Excellent follow-through and responsiveness, and you're comfortable working with people at every level of the organization

  • Comfort handling confidential and privileged information with discretion and sound judgment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and e-signature platforms like DocuSign

  • Experience with contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools is a plus

The Perks:

  • Hybrid Work Environment

  • Opportunity to be a major part of Insomnia Cookies’ next chapter of growth

  • Competitive compensation package including base, bonus, and equity

  • Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401(k)

  • A fun, entrepreneurial, and cookie-filled culture.

  • Free cookies, branded swag and so much more!
