Full job description

Buckingham Structural Moving Equipment is an industry leader in manufacturing heavy-duty jacks, dollies, and hydraulic systems used to move houses, historical buildings, and massive structures. We build the rugged, reliable gear that makes the impossible moves possible.

The Role

We are seeking an onsite Technical Writer to transform complex engineering designs into clear, safe, and highly accurate documentation. Based directly at our facility, you will work side-by-side with our engineering and manufacturing teams. You will utilize SolidWorks models to create the visual and written manuals our clients rely on in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create Manuals: Write comprehensive user manuals, maintenance guides, and operation procedures for hydraulic equipment.

  • Leverage CAD Models: Open, navigate, and pull technical illustrations directly from SolidWorks files.

  • Simplify Complexity: Translate blueprints and engineering specifications into clear, step-by-step instructions.

  • Collaborate Onsite: Work daily on the production floor and in the engineering office to verify data.

  • Standardize Content: Maintain a consistent documentation style and manage our technical library.

Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years as a Technical Writer in heavy machinery, manufacturing, or structural engineering.

  • SolidWorks Proficiency: Hands-on experience navigating SolidWorks to generate technical images and diagrams.

  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret CAD models, mechanical drawings, and hydraulic schematics.

  • Work Environment: Comfortable working in an active manufacturing and production plant environment.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience.

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.

  • 401(k) matching program.

  • Paid time off and holiday pay.

  • Direct interaction with massive, real-world engineering projects on our production floor.
