Introduction
Are you interested in starting a career in technology but don't have a traditional technical background? Do you have the aptitude and desire to build a technology career? The IBM Technical Specialist Apprenticeship Program provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience, professional training, and mentorship while working alongside experienced technology professionals supporting Federal clients.
As a Technical Specialist Apprentice, you will learn how enterprise technology solutions are implemented, supported, and optimized in real-world environments. Through structured learning and on-the-job experience, you will develop the technical and professional skills needed to build a successful career in technology.

Your role and responsibilities
What is an Apprenticeship?
The IBM Apprenticeship Program is a U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship that combines structured learning with hands-on work experience. The program lasts up to 12 months and is designed to help participants build technical and professional skills while earning a nationally recognized credential.
Throughout the apprenticeship, you will follow a learning roadmap and gain practical experience working with teams that support technology solutions, client environments, cloud technologies, and business operations.
What You'll Do
As a Technical Specialist Apprentice, you will:

Learn core technology concepts and best practices.

Support teams delivering technology solutions for Federal clients.

Assist with troubleshooting, problem-solving, and issue resolution.

Gain exposure to cloud technologies, infrastructure, cybersecurity, automation, and emerging technologies.

Learn how technology supports business operations and client missions.

Participate in project work and team collaboration activities.

Build professional skills including communication, teamwork, and customer service.

Work with mentors and experienced professionals to develop technical and career skills.

Apprenticeship Experience
As an apprentice, you will join a cohort of fellow learners and participate in onboarding, technical training, mentorship, and real-world project experiences.
