Employment Type: Full timeShift: Day Shift Description: POSITION PURPOSE

The Registered Radiologist Assistant (RRA) provides advanced, patient-centered diagnostic imaging and image-guided procedural support under the direction and supervision of an attending radiologist and in accordance with approved scope of practice, site policies, medical staff privileges, and applicable regulatory requirements. The role supports high-quality imaging interpretation and procedural care by evaluating exam appropriateness and completeness, performing designated fluoroscopic and minor needle procedures, obtaining informed consent when appropriate, documenting care in the electronic medical record, communicating preliminary observations and important findings, supporting radiation safety, and collaborating with radiologists, technologists, providers, and interdisciplinary teams to advance safe and efficient Imaging Services operations.

Shift: Mon-Fri 8a-430p

What you will do:

  • Performs approved diagnostic fluoroscopic examinations and related imaging services under radiologist direction, following established protocols and maintaining image quality, patient safety, and radiation safety principles, including ALARA.
  • Evaluates imaging examinations and procedures for appropriateness, completeness, clinical indication, exam readiness, and protocol alignment; escalates concerns to the attending radiologist or appropriate provider when needed.
  • Selects and administers or coordinates appropriate contrast agents within approved scope, protocol, credentialing, and site policy requirements; monitors the patient response and initiates escalation for adverse events or complications.
  • Reports preliminary observations to the attending radiologist in a timely, accurate, and professional manner, including preliminary observations for designated imaging examinations such as ultrasound, DEXA, cardiac CT, and cardiac MRI post-processing, as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Successful completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program is required.
  2. Active registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography is required.
  3. Registered Radiologist Assistant credential, ARRT (R.R.A) is required.
  4. Maintains current and valid state radiologic technologist licensure or permit to practice in the state of employment, as applicable.
  5. Master’s degree or grandfathered Bachelor’s degree with RRA certification before January 1, 2023 is required.
  6. Minimum of two (2) years of advanced diagnostic imaging, interventional radiology, fluoroscopy, and experience supporting radiologist-directed procedures is required.
  7. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six (6) weeks of hire or by local policy.
  8. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred unless required by local site, procedure scope, or credentialing standards.
  9. Completion of required abuse mandatory reporter training and other organizational, state, or site-specific training within required timelines.
  10. Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment and functioning as part of a radiologist-led clinical team.
