Aerospace Manufacturing Lead

Department: Aerospace

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Manager

Position Type: Full-Time

Pay: $29-39

Schedule: Monday–Friday

Shift: 6:00 AM–6:00 PM

Position Summary

The Aerospace Manufacturing Lead is responsible for leading day-to-day aerospace composite manufacturing operations, including material cutting, lay-up, vacuum bagging, autoclave processing, curing, trimming, assembly, and preparation for inspection.

This position provides hands-on technical and operational leadership to manufacturing personnel while ensuring production is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer specifications, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and established manufacturing procedures.

The Manufacturing Lead will coordinate workflow, assign daily priorities, monitor productivity, train and mentor employees, and work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to meet production schedules and customer commitments. This role will also support the startup, qualification, and continued development of aerospace manufacturing processes, equipment, work instructions, and training programs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead daily aerospace composite manufacturing activities, including cutting, lay-up, vacuum bagging, curing, autoclave processing, trimming, and assembly.

  • Provide daily direction and hands-on leadership to Cutting Table Operators, Lay-Up Technicians, Autoclave Operators, and other manufacturing personnel.

  • Assign work, establish priorities, and monitor productivity to ensure production schedules and customer requirements are achieved.

  • Coordinate workflow between material cutting, lay-up, curing, autoclave processing, trimming, assembly, and inspection.

  • Monitor staffing, equipment, and production requirements and communicate resource needs to management.

  • Train, coach, and mentor employees on manufacturing procedures, equipment operation, quality requirements, and safety practices.

  • Promote accountability, teamwork, quality workmanship, and adherence to established production standards.

  • Support the startup, installation, qualification, and operational readiness of aerospace manufacturing equipment, including lay-up cells, cutting tables, autoclaves, and supporting equipment.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, production controls, work instructions, standard operating procedures, and employee training programs.

  • Ensure compliance with aerospace manufacturing procedures, customer specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate production activities to support customer delivery schedules and program milestones.

  • Support process qualification, validation, and First Article Inspection (FAI) activities.

  • Partner with Engineering and Quality teams on process development, manufacturing issues, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures.

  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, workflow, and manufacturing efficiency.

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and production-focused work environment.
