Posting Description
EVENT PLANNER, School of Engineering, to plan, coordinate, and execute events hosted in the Hacker Reactor (E38, 7th Floor) by iHQ resident units, MIT DLCIs, and sponsored external partners. Will also provide periodic events management for select SoE programs . Manages the full life-cycle of events, including scheduling, logistics, facilities, décor, catering, audiovisual services, vendors, speakers, transportation, promotion, registration, budgets, invoicing, and evaluation; serves as primary contact, assessing needs, recommending solutions, communicating timelines, and providing onsite support; maintains the event calendar and database, optimizes space use, and administers policies, procedures, and contracts; partners with Facilities and the SoE Dean’s Office to market the venue, cultivate stakeholder relationships, track performance metrics, and present quarterly analyses and recommendations.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or a related field and a minimum of three years’ experience in event planning, marketing/advertising, or administration; experience with budgeting, strategic planning, contracts, policies, data management, event support, leadership/program development, and advising individuals with diverse, complex needs; be a creative, detail-oriented, and flexible problem-solver able to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment; excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, customer service, and networking skills along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software; and work effectively independently and collaboratively with diverse staff, students, faculty, and external stakeholders while building strong relationships. PREFERRED: MIT experience; demonstrated success in event recruitment, sales, or business development—particularly high-revenue generation; and proficiency with Airtable and calendar management.
Evening and weekend work is required for major events, as needed.9/23/2026
