Full job description

Greenfield Engineering, a Saalex Company, is seeking a Journeyman Software Developer in Patuxent River, MD. The Journeyman Software Developer will support mission-critical DoD programs through the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software solutions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in computer science, hands-on development experience, and familiarity with Agile methodologies to contribute to secure, scalable applications in a collaborative environment.

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $110k-$125k annually (depending upon experience)

Work Location: Onsite at Patuxent River, MD.

Essential Functions

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications using modern programming practices

  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in C++ and other object-oriented languages

  • Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives

  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects to ensure system reliability and performance

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement technical solutions

  • Support system enhancements by adding new features and optimizing existing functionality

  • Contribute to software testing efforts, including unit testing and integration testing

  • Assist with version control, build pipelines, and deployment activities

Requirements

Required:

  • Experience developing in C++.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment (Scrum or similar).

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Experience with debugging, testing, and maintaining applications.

Desired:

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, or Jenkins.

  • Knowledge of JMPS/NOMS.

  • Experience with Python, Java, or JavaScript.

  • Exposure to cloud technologies (AWS preferred).

  • Experience with web development frameworks (React, Flask, Spring Boot).

Education / Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related Engineering field (required) and 3-10 years of relevant professional or internship experience in software development required.

Security Clearance:

Active Secret clearance required. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
