Full job description
Founding executive · San Francisco or Remote (USA-based) · Full-time Klaimee is building liability coverage for the mistakes and failures of AI agents. We are a Y Combinator company backed by Bermuda-based A rated insurance partners, which powers our first product: a warranty for AI agent failures. We have just closed a $5.5M seed round to scale and domainate the AI liability insurance market? As we scale, we will grow into more carrier appointments and program partnerships. The mission Own Klaimee’s legal and insurance strategy as we scale from a reinsurance-backed warranty into a carrier-appointed program. You will be the face of Klaimee to reinsurers, carriers, and regulators — a founding executive, not a support function. What you’ll own
- Carrier & reinsurer relationships. Manage and grow our reinsurance partnership; originate and negotiate future capacity, fronting, and program arrangements; represent Klaimee as a principal in the market.
- Regulatory strategy & product classification. Own our warranty-vs-insurance positioning across jurisdictions and keep our product structure defensible as we enter new markets and product lines.
- Licensing & compliance roadmap. Chart the path to the authorizations we’ll need as we grow.
- Outside counsel & contractors. Hire and manage specialist counsel for regulatory filings and jurisdiction-specific work; own the legal budget. Build the in-house team when the time is right.
What success looks like in 12 months
- Klaimee has a defensible, documented regulatory position in our core markets.
- Our capacity agreement is renewed and expanded, with at least one additional carrier or reinsurer relationship in progress.
- Founders no longer sit in first position on any carrier, regulatory, or legal conversation.
Who you are
- 6-12 years in insurance - as an insurance regulatory lawyer (law firm insurance practice or in-house at an MGA, carrier, or insurtech) or a senior insurance executive with a legal background.
- You’ve worked directly with carriers and reinsurers and can negotiate capacity, binding authority, or program agreements yourself.
- Comfortable being the sole legal and insurance voice in an early-stage company: pragmatic, commercial, and fast.
Bonus points: Lloyd’s market or coverholder experience · parametric or warranty/service-contract structures · Bermuda market familiarity · you’ve been through the “startup gets appointed by real carriers” journey at an insurtech. What we offer Competitive salary and meaningful equity, reflecting a foundational executive hire -discussed openly in our first conversation. A seat at the table on company strategy from day one, and the chance to define how an entirely new category of coverage gets built.
