JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: Doctorate Degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine. Active licensure in good standing in the state of Arkansas.

Experience: A minimum of three years active medical practice. Five years clinical leadership experience, and/or management experience with proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management preferred. Must be able to demonstrate program management and leadership skills, with strategic and tactical planning abilities. A demonstrated work record in achieving cost reductions and health care service improvements in a health care environment is preferred. Meets requirements for medical staff privileges at St Bernards Medical Center.

Physical: This is a safety sensitive position. Please see the St. Bernards Substance Abuse Policy for further information. Normal office environment with frequent walking, sitting, standing, reaching with hands and arms, kneeling, crouching, with need of taste and smell. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May be exposed to airborne and infectious materials.

JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Director of Total Life Healthcare is responsible for the overall clinical performance of the organization and its services and programs including the delivery of participant care, clinical outcomes, and implementation and oversight of the quality improvement program. The Medical Director may provide direct medical care to participants including assessments, acute/chronic conditions, follow-up visits, medication prescribing, and care coordination. May be a part of the interdisciplinary team (IDT) to meet/discuss each participant alongside all members of the IDT. Provides oversight and guidance to other PCPs, APPs. Stays current on medical care and medication management. Will provide education to team members, community, and participants/caregivers, as needed. Review quality data and outcomes to collaborate with the team to help develop interventions to meet organizational goals. Collaborate with Director and other managers. Collaborate with pharmacy regarding utilization to ensure quality and fiscal accountability. Collaborate with specialists, hospitalists to coordinate medical care. Oversight of inpatient, outpatient, and emergency healthcare for participants of Total Life Healthcare. Performs professional duties of physician in collaboration with interdisciplinary team. Provides consultation to area physicians and oversees patient care in a variety of settings: outpatient, acute care, nursing homes, retirement facilities, etc. Strong critical thinking, effective analytical skills, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities required. Ability to manage competing priorities, multi-task with results-oriented outcomes and work in a fast-paced environment. Routinely, assigns and responsibly directs staff. This position is required to utilize independent judgment.
