Join our Fitchburg, MA team as a Supplier Quality Engineer and help ensure the quality, reliability, and continuous improvement of products and suppliers supporting critical naval power systems.

You will be responsible for the quality of purchased items used in product development, as well as quality-process and quality-system improvements. Working across suppliers, engineering, operations, assembly, test, and inspection, you will help prevent defects, resolve issues at their root cause, and strengthen supplier performance.

What You Will Do

  • Lead supplier quality and development efforts: Partner with suppliers to implement corrective actions, improve control plans, eliminate defects, and drive continuous-improvement initiatives. Evaluate critical supplier selections and lead supplier activities including on-site audits, prototype evaluations, and review and approval of supplier corrective actions.

  • Develop and execute quality plans: Analyze program and customer requirements to develop quality plans, procedures, schedules, activities, and resource allocations that deliver effective quality support. Review and approve engineering, test, and contractor documentation to ensure quality requirements are clearly addressed.

  • Improve quality systems and processes: Support the quality management system through internal audits, root-cause corrective actions, and sustained process improvements. Establish programs to evaluate the precision and accuracy of production, processing, testing, measurement, and analytical equipment.

  • Resolve product and manufacturing quality issues: Lead product-quality improvement teams and Material Review Boards, and participate in Failure Review Boards. Provide technical support to Assembly, Test, and Inspection personnel through workmanship-improvement plans, inspection methods and criteria, sampling plans, specification interpretation and revision, and nonconforming-material processing.

  • Use data to drive decisions: Generate and analyze statistical reports on inspection activities, results, and new product or process testing. Recommend corrective and improvement actions based on findings while considering the financial impact of quality controls and inspections.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience, with a minimum of two years of quality and/or supplier-quality experience.

  • Experience with ISO standards, Six Sigma tools, and statistics.
