Role Summary:

The Commodities Team Member supports the efficient movement of wire products through the distribution center by receiving, storing, picking, processing, and preparing materials for delivery. This role helps ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately, inventory is maintained properly, and warehouse operations are conducted safely and efficiently. Success in this position contributes directly to Van Meter's ability to be our customers' competitive advantage through operational excellence, teamwork, and exceptional service.

Schedule:

Sunday night through Friday morning, 9 PM - 5:30 AM

Key Responsibilities:

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Pick and process customer pipe, wire, and conduit orders

Receive, unload, inspect, and put away inbound commodity shipments

Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely

Prepare, stage, load, and secure materials for customer and branch deliveries

Maintain inventory accuracy and report discrepancies

Perform routine equipment inspections and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment

Support cross-training, operational coverage, and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED

Ability to lift and/or move up to 75lbs with or without assistance

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical work throughout an entire shift

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Strong communication and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous warehouse or distribution center experience

Experience operating forklifts, or other similar powered equipment

Experience with handheld RF scanners

Knowledge of Eclipse or similar inventory management systems

Physical Requirements:

Frequently stand and walk on hard surfaces throughout the entire workday

Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials up to 50lbs

Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials up to 75lbs

Frequently bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions

Occasionally climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, and balance

Frequent use of hands and fingers for material handling and equipment operation

Frequent use of vision, depth perception and color recognition for inventory handling, equipment operation, and safety signals

Frequent operation of forklifts and warehouse equipment

Ability to hear verbal instructions, equipment alarms, and other safety warnings

Working Conditions:

Primarily warehouse and distribution center work environment

Exposure to varying temperatures including heat, cold, humidity, and other seasonal weather changes

Moderate warehouse noise levels

Occasional exposure to dust, odors, fumes, vibrations, and mechanical hazards

Indoor work with occasional outdoor exposure

Extended shifts, overtime, or flexible scheduling may be required to meet business needs

Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including steel toe shoes, gloves, and safety glasses
