Full job description

The Aspen Group (TAG) is one of the largest and most trusted retail healthcare business support organizations in the U.S. and has supported over 20,000 healthcare professionals and team members with close to 1,500 health and wellness offices across 50 states in four distinct categories: dental care, urgent care, medical aesthetics, and animal health. Working in partnership with independent practice owners and clinicians, the team is united by a single purpose: to prove that healthcare can be better and smarter for everyone. TAG provides a comprehensive suite of centralized business support services that power the impact of five consumer-facing businesses: Aspen Dental, ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers, Chapter Aesthetic Studio, WellNow, and Lovet Pet Vet. Each brand has access to a deep community of experts, tools and resources to grow their practices, and an unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality consumer healthcare experiences at scale.

As a reflection of our current needs and planned growth, we are pleased to offer an opportunity to join our accounting team as a Senior Accountant. In this role, you will support the monthly close of all Brand results and take ownership of key balance sheet areas, including prepaid analysis and fixed assets, along with a variety of journal entries and reconciliations. You’ll work in Workday Financials and partner closely with corporate accounting and brand teams. This position is ideal for someone with a solid general accounting foundation who enjoys variety and is willing to step in and support different teams as needs arise.

Responsibilities

Month-End Close & General Accounting

  • Support the monthly close of all Brand results by preparing, analyzing, and posting standard and non-standard journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and adjustments, in Workday.

  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts monthly, investigating and resolving variances and maintaining supporting documentation.

  • Meet all assigned duties efficiently, in accordance with quality standards, and by pre-determined close deadlines.

  • Prepaid Expenses

  • Maintain prepaid schedules, including setting up new prepaids, calculating and posting monthly amortization, and reconciling balances to the general ledger.

  • Perform periodic prepaid analysis to confirm balances remain supported, accurately classified, and properly expensed.

Fixed Assets

  • Review fixed asset invoices to determine capex vs. opex treatment and ensure proper accounting.

  • Record asset additions, transfers, and disposals, and calculate and post depreciation in accordance with TAG policy.

  • Maintain the fixed asset register and reconcile it to the general ledger.

Inventory

  • Partner with corporate accounting on the annual inventory process and the monthly inventory entries.

Process, Policy & Collaboration

  • Understand and execute TAG Corporate standard accounting policies and practices, while also designing and executing brand-specific accounting processes and practices.

  • Provide timely, exceptional customer service and support to key internal and external stakeholders, including brand operations, corporate accounting, and auditors.

  • Identify and recommend process improvements that increase accuracy and efficiency of the close.

  • Support audit and tax requests with schedules and documentation as needed.

  • Special projects and ad-hoc requests as assigned.

Minimum Education, Experience and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, including month-end close, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including prepaid and fixed asset accounting.

  • Experience with Workday Financials or a comparable ERP system.

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., lookups, pivot tables) and the ability to learn new tools quickly.

  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and operate independently while meeting deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Public or private accounting experience for a large or multi-entity organization.

  • CPA or progress toward CPA.

  • Experience supporting audits or documenting accounting processes.

Salary: 85-90k, with a generous benefits package that includes paid time off, health, dental, vision, and 401(k) savings plan with match
