Certified Veterinary Technician, Emergency Assistant Supervisor | $32–$40/hour + more for VTS

Location: Lawrence, MA

Schedule: Full-Time | Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday, 6:00 PM–6:30 AM

Compensation: $32–$40/hour (higher for VTS) + $5/hour overnight differential from 11:00 PM–6:00 AM

Bulger Veterinary Hospital in Lawrence, MA is hiring a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency & Critical Care department as an Assistant Clinical Supervisor. This overnight leadership opportunity combines advanced ER/ICU patient care with hands-on team leadership in a multi-specialty and emergency animal hospital.

This position is approximately 90% clinical and 10% leadership, making it a strong opportunity for an experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician who wants to grow as a leader while continuing to work directly with patients and complex cases.

Compensation

  • $32–$40/hour

  • Up to $45/hour for VTS

  • Overnight differential: Base rate + $5/hour from 11:00 PM–6:00 AM

Responsibilities

As an Assistant Clinical Supervisor, you’ll partner with the Clinical Supervisor to support daily shift operations, develop the Veterinary Technician team, and maintain high standards of patient care while remaining actively involved on the ER/ICU floor.

  • Lead shift operations and help ensure the Emergency & Critical Care team is prepared for the caseload

  • Provide hands-on coaching, mentorship, and clinical support to Veterinary Technicians and support staff

  • Participate directly in high-acuity ER and Critical Care cases, including triage, patient stabilization, treatments, and procedures

  • Apply strong ER/ICU skills while supporting hospitalized and critically ill patients

  • Perform and monitor anesthesia and sedation using established safety and patient-care protocols

  • Partner with veterinarians and team members across emergency and specialty medicine to support efficient patient care and workflow

  • Help identify and resolve clinical and operational challenges during the shift

  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance conversations

  • Model accountability, teamwork, clear communication, and high standards of patient care

  • Help CVTs, RVTs, LVTs, and other Vet Tech team members continue developing their emergency and critical care skills

Qualifications

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, or LVT) required

  • 3+ years of Emergency Veterinary experience

  • Strong ER/ICU clinical skill set

  • Anesthesia training and experience

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, coach, and develop a team

  • Confidence working in a fast-paced, high-acuity Emergency & Critical Care environment

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

  • Commitment to growth, accountability, teamwork, and high-quality patient care

  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
