Full job description

Description

At Amazon, we're working to be the Earth’s most customer-centric company. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. This Product managers will be responsible for driving optimization efforts across various organizations and processes to improve shipping costs at Amazon. This includes defining the right set of metrics and processes, establishing ambitious goals and driving towards them, working with technology and operations partners to design, develop and deploy intelligent processes and improvements.

The North American Stores (NAS) organization is focused on continuously optimizing its P&L to drive long-term profitability. One of the most significant levers? Outbound fulfillment costs. The NAS Ship Cost Optimization (SCO) team tackles this head-on—leveraging technology for scale and launching innovative products that optimize costs systematically and with measurable impact.

This team has delivered over $1 billion+ in cumulative bottom-line improvements over the past four years by reducing packaging waste, correcting dimensional defects, optimizing regional fulfillment, and building Gen-AI products that reimagine how Amazon collaborates with selling partners. In 2026, the team is targeting significant savings through initiatives spanning cube reduction, AI-powered vendor outreach, regionalization strategies, sortability defect reduction, and improved placement—against a total addressable opportunity of $1.5B+.

As a Sr Product Manager on this team, you will own products and initiatives that directly improve the profitability of one of Amazon's largest businesses. You will develop a deep understanding of the inputs driving ship costs—placement, regional fulfillment, sortability, ship method choices, and dimensions—and translate that knowledge into products, policies, and partnerships that deliver hundreds of millions in savings. You will work across partner teams spanning Supply Chain Technology, Operations, Transportation, Finance, and Category Management, and you will leverage AI and automation to build the next generation of cost optimization products.

This is a role for someone who thinks in systems, communicates with precision, and thrives at the intersection of data, product strategy, and cross-organizational influence.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own and drive the end-to-end product roadmap for one or more SCO initiatives (e.g., Cube Reduction, CRISP Gen-AI service, regional fulfillment strategies, or Sortability Overrides), from opportunity sizing through execution and measurement.

  • Develop deep subject matter expertise in the inputs that drive outbound ship costs—placement, regional fulfillment, sortability tier economics, dimensional accuracy, and ship method choices—to identify high-impact opportunities others miss.

  • Build and scale AI-powered products such as CRISP (Cube Reduction, Improving Sizing and Product Design), a Gen-AI LLM service that delivers automated packaging and product redesign recommendations to 20,000+ selling partners.

  • Influence and align cross-functional stakeholders across VP-level organizations including Supply Chain Technology (SCOT), Transportation, Fulfillment Tech, Finance, Category teams, and Retail Business Services (RBS) to secure resources, resolve dependencies, and drive shared goals.

  • Design and run controlled experiments to validate hypotheses, which enable product feature decisions and deliver results at scale.

  • Define success metrics and tracking mechanisms (e.g., monthly flash reporting, ASIN-level cost attribution, vendor response rates) that create transparency and accountability for initiatives targeting $200MM+ in annual savings.

  • Partner with Science and Engineering teams to improve targeting methodologies (dynamic ship cost impact models, out-of-stock probability signals, ASIN similarity algorithms) and automate manual workflows.

  • Represent the team in leadership forums, crafting data-driven narratives that communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs to senior leaders with clarity and confidence.

A day in the life

You start the morning reviewing product metrics and triaging customer feedback to decide where to focus. Mid-morning, you are in a design review with your engineering and design partners, working through tradeoffs on a feature approaching launch. After lunch, you draft a working-backwards document for a new initiative, pulling in input from finance and marketing stakeholders. Later in the afternoon, you sit in on a customer research session to pressure-test assumptions before finalizing roadmap priorities. You close the day by updating your team on progress and aligning on next steps.

About the team

The NAS Ship Cost Optimization team is a small, high-impact product team that punches well above its weight. Over the past four years, the team has delivered $1B+ in cumulative bottom-line improvements to the Stores P&L by building innovative products—including the Gen-AI powered CRISP service—and championing cost-smart policies across the fulfillment network.

The team operates with strong leadership visibility at all levels, given the scale of results delivered and the innovative, AI-forward approach to problem solving. You will join a closely knit group that Thinks Big, earns trust through results, and works collaboratively across some of Amazon's most complex operational systems.

If you want to own products that move a multi-billion dollar P&L—and do it by combining analytical rigor, creative product thinking, technology-driven scale, and genuine cross-functional partnership—this is the team.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with end to end product delivery

  • Knowledge of writing and optimizing SQL queries in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

  • Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship

  • Experience in written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Logistics, Distribution or Fulfillment processes

  • Experience developing, deploying and managing AI products at scale

  • Knowledge of product experimentation (A/B testing)

  • Proficiency with tools such as Amazon QuickSuite, Kiro, or MCP (or equivalent BI and developer productivity tools).

  • Experience working in a vendor- or seller-facing environment where external partner engagement is a core part of the product strategy.
