Full job description

Wright Electric, Inc. (Wright) is a U.S.-based aerospace and defense company building advanced power systems for military and aviation applications. From 30 kW expeditionary generators (Dynamo) to multi-megawatt airborne propulsion (WM2500) and containerized turbogenerators (DenseGen 3750), Wright develops the motors, generators, inverters, and batteries that enable next-generation defense capabilities. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Malta, NY, Wright works with the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, NASA, ARPA-E, FAA, and major aerospace primes. Wright is looking for an electric motor design engineer to join our team. Because Wright is a small company, employees are asked to wear many hats. You will work closely with the mechanical engineers and power electronics engineers to develop Wright’s motor platform. The ideal candidate is assertive, pragmatic, hands-on, with excellent communication skills. Requirements for this position include:Required:- Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering is suggested, but all experienced candidates are encouraged to apply- 5+ years of electric motor design and development- Experience with prototype and product development- Experience with supporting testing and test-plan development- Experience with selection/specification of components such as electrical cable, wiring and related instrumentation, measuring, and monitoring equipment- Work with Wright’s cross-functional teams (aero, power electronics, program management) to define electric motor design and sizing to meet relevant requirements- Capable of owning tasks from beginning to end Desired:- Experience with power electronic and controls modeling in Simulink or PSIM- Previous experience designing permanent magnet motors and high frequency magnetics Full-time, permanent, direct-hire position. Location: This position is located in the United States in Malta, NY. On-site presence is required.
