This fellow would join the research group of Dr. Marcus Lambert, Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Public Health at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University (SUNY Downstate). Dr. Lambert-s research group is interested in (1) disparities in training and mentoring, (2) psychosocial and institutional factors that influence persistence, (3) the navigation of critical transition points, and (4) structural racism and discrimination. The TRANSPORT postdoctoral fellow receives salary support for a two-year period. In addition, this fellow may be eligible to receive up to $20,000 for their research and research-related expenses (e.g., travel, publications, and supplies). The second year of support is contingent upon successful achievement of milestones, and a progress report submitted after year one. At the conclusion of the two-year fellowship, it is expected that the fellow will have published peer-reviewed papers, generated pilot data, and established networks that will facilitate transition to career development awards and future independent funding.
